Hi Bryan, thanks for taking the time to read my article. It is not my intention to try to undermine other roles. Every role is equally as important or there would not be a job in the first place. In the context of this quote, I am saying that in this stage of the production lifecycle, the designer is the one who has been spending the most time visually. And because people are sensitive to making judgments on what they can see in the first few seconds, designers need to make a strong effort at showing stakeholders how they got to their solution. Usually in this process people can doze off and just rely on what they see, without having thought through what the designer has considered, which is why the soft skills part is really important to hone. I apologize if there were any misunderstandings.
