The gutters are a measurement of spacing between the columns and elements, which give your designs breathing space. Without it, things would be neck to neck with each other with not enough breathing room, and will look bad. But if you leave your parent element in the gutters, then why use a grid at all? It is core to the structure of your design. If it’s not working for your design, then you can remove gutters as whole or change how wide you want them to be.
